I moved to the country, from the city after retirement. I found a small 150 year old workman's cottage in Unionville PA. I was longing for a place with a large yard to let my new puppy have space to run and challenge myself for projects that would keep me busy for years to come. The property was a blank canvas where I could try growing all the flowers and foliage in my own garden. All my life I had foraged plants and flowers from wherever I found them over the years. It was time to source them on my own property.
I’ve always enjoyed designing with flowers and foliage in arrangements for every occasion, windowsill, or sharing with friends. Bringing beauty and fragrance into my house and for others was a daily habit. Once I retired I had the time and ground to really grow some exciting plant material to make my designs. That was the start of Flower Folly Farm.
As the pandemic was winding down I got the opportunity to adopt 2 African Gray geese. The goslings were left in a nearby park pond to fend for themselves. We think they were raised from hatched eggs as a home school project, and must have outgrown their inside home. I hoped I could provide some protection here at Flower Folly Farm. They were very socialied and loved to be picked up and paid attention too. They are now fully grown and do a great job of letting me know when I have visitors and keep the field fertilized with tons of goose poop. I named them Desi and Lucy. However, they have never laid any eggs, so I think they are both males and good buddies.
I have named some of my subscription options in their honor.
